HC Deb 05 June 1884 vol 288 c1541
MR. GRAY

asked the Postmaster General, Whether the Post Office at Drumcondra, Dublin, was suddenly closed, without any preliminary notice, some weeks ago; and, whether he is aware that great inconvenience has been thereby caused in the neighbourhood?

MR. FAWCETT

The Drumcondra receiving office was closed on the 28th ultimo. Owing to circumstances of a family nature, the receiver was unable to continue to carry on the duties, and requested that he might at once be relieved of the office, which was accordingly closed. The Drumcondra Road office is only distant about three furlongs from the Drumcondra office, and when this office was closed the telegraph business was transferred from it to the former. The Drumcondra office will be reopened whenever the necessary arrangements for installing the receiver, who has been nominated to the office, are completed.
