HC Deb 12 February 1884 vol 284 c675
MR. HEALY

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If he can explain why the detectives have been withdrawn from the doors of the offices of the Irish National League, Dublin?

MR. TREVELYAN

Sir, the police have received no instructions such as those suggested in the Question. Detectives may, in the discharge of their duty, have been brought into the vicinity of the office named; but they were not told to be there.

MR. HEALY

I may state, for the information of the right hon. Gentleman, that they were posted there for the last six months, and when Parliament opened they were withdrawn.
