HC Deb 22 April 1884 vol 287 cc276-7
BARON HENRY DE WORMS

gave Notice that he would ask, Whether the Government, having proposed to the Powers a Conference on the affairs of Egypt generally, the German Government had declined that proposal; and, whether, in consequence of that refusal, the Government had decided that the proposed Conference should be confined to the financial affairs of Egypt?

MR. GLADSTONE

It may be irregular in me, but I may save the hon. Gentleman trouble by saying that there is no truth whatever in the statements referred to in his Notice.
