HC Deb 01 May 1883 vol 278 c1576
MR. LABOUCHERE

asked the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether he will consent to the appointment of a Committee of Inquiry to investigate the manner in which it is alleged that signatures against the Parliamentary Oaths Act (1865) Amendment Bill have been obtained from children of tender age by paid canvassers and others?

MR. GLADSTONE

I am without any particulars on this subject, and I do not see any Notice of Motion in relation to it. This is a matter that ought to have been brought under the consideration of the House; but, not being in possession of the information, I do not see how I can give an answer to the Question.
