HC Deb 19 March 1883 vol 277 c805
SIR GEORGE CAMPBELL

asked the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether, adverting to the difficulties in regard to the accommodation of the two Houses of Parliament, to which attention has been called, and the objections expressed in the other House to further concessions in that respect to this House, Her Majesty's Government will take care that the site and materials of the old Courts of Law are not appropriated to other purposes till it is seen whether additional accommodation may not eventually be wanted for an extension of the system of Standing Committees, and for other purposes?

MR. GLADSTONE

Sir, there is no intention to make any disposition of the land on the other side of Westminster Hall until it shall appear to the discretion of Parliament and of the Government that it can be advantageously disposed of.
