HC Deb 23 July 1883 vol 282 cc139-40
MR. JUSTIN M'CARTHY

asked the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether the Report of the Government of India on the connection of Madras officials with the promotion of Gold Mining Companies, promised by the Secretary of State for India early in April last, has yet been received; and, if not, whether he can state when the Report may be expected?

MR. J. K. CROSS

On the 9th of April last I informed the hon. Gentleman that the Government of India would be directed to furnish a Report on the Whole question of the concessions granted in Mysore during the minority of the Maharajah, and of the connection of British officials therewith. A despatch on the subject was sent on April 19; but no reply has yet been received, nor can I say when it may be expected.
