HC Deb 16 July 1883 vol 281 c1505
SIR ALEXANDER GORDON

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, If he will lay upon the Table of the House an estimate of the probable expense of providing a staff of officials and clerks, with the necessary offices, which will be required for carrying on the business to be transacted by the proposed Local Government Board for Scotland.

SIR WILLIAM HARCOURT

, in reply, said, it was not possible to make any accurate estimate of the probable expense before the Bill had been discussed; but it would not be a large amount. It was not contemplated that this Office would require a considerable staff.
