HC Deb 19 February 1883 vol 276 c306
COLONEL NOLAN

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If the sluices on the Shannon are now completed and in a fit state to prevent the neighbouring lands from being submerged by the summer floods?

MR. COURTNEY

Yes, Sir; the sluices in question have been completed; but some minor works still remain to be done, having been retarded by the unfavourable season. There is no reason to doubt that they will be in working order before the time of the summer floods.
