HC Deb 09 August 1883 vol 282 cc2074-5
MR. HEALY

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether there is any objection to lay upon the Table the correspondence which passed, in March 1882, between the Collector General of Dublin and Mr. Ferry, Chief Clerk, with the Treasury, as to the alleged abstraction of a cashbox containing £60 from the office; and also the evidence taken by the Treasury Solicitor on 21st March 1882 at the investigation, with his report on the case?

MR. TREVELYAN

Sir, no good purpose would be served by laying this Correspondence on the Table. It was an inquiry conducted within the Department of a sort which it is not usual to make public.
