asked the President of the Board of Trade, Whether he will consider the advisability of ordering an inquiry into the circumstances attending the very serious and unprecedented loss of life and property sustained by the smacks engaged in the deep sea fishery on the East Coast, and especially by those belonging to the Humber Ports, during the gales of last month?

MR. CHAMBERLAIN

, in reply, said, he had given instructions for the holding of an inquiry into the circumstances before the Stipendiary Magistrate of Hull, and it would be shortly set on foot.
