HC Deb 27 October 1882 vol 274 c283
LORD RANDOLPH CHURCHILL

asked, When the right hon. Gentleman the Prime Minister would be able to put down on the Paper the proposed Regulations relating to the Appointment of casual Chairman?

MR. GLADSTONE

No, Sir; we have no intention at present to make any proposal on that subject. On the contrary, it would be a contravention of the distinct understanding which we have entered into with the House. That matter will, I think, properly and, I would almost say, of necessity, as far as we are concerned, after what we have stated, have to stand over till a future period.
