HC Deb 11 November 1882 vol 274 c1637
MR. SALT

gave Notice that on Thursday he would ask the Secretary of State for War, Whether the Vote of Credit of £2,300,000, taken for the cost of the operations of the Army and Navy in Egypt, had been exceeded, and, if so, to what extent; also, from what source such excess was provided; whether all the the expenditure incurred in Egypt had been made in accordance with the provisions of the Appropriation Act; and, whether it was intended to move a further Vote of Credit in the present Session; and, if so, what would be its amount?

MR. CHILDERS

I think I had better say at once that as my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister has stated that in a few days he will give the whole of the information asked for by the hon. Gentleman, it will be quite unnecessary that I should be asked this Question before he makes that statement.
