HC Deb 22 May 1882 vol 269 c1265
MR. THOROLD ROGERS

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether he had taken any steps in view of the terribly polluted condition of the Thames between London Bridge and Gravesend?

SIR WILLIAM HARCOURT

, in reply, said, that he was not able at present to give a complete answer to this Question. He had written to the Metropolitan Board of Works upon the subject, and he had received an answer from them. He hoped in a day or two to be able to make a statement, which he trusted would be satisfactory to the hon. Member, as to the course the Government would take with a view to a thorough investigation of this matter.
