HC Deb 01 May 1882 vol 268 c1818
MR. LALOR

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether, nearly five months ago, Michael Whittaker and Thomas Dunphy were arrested under the Coercion Act, on the same charge of "inciting others to an act of intimidation;" whether the parish of Aghaboe, in the Queen's County, where the Messrs. Whittaker and Dunphy reside, has been entirely free, both before and since their arrest, from crime and outrage of any kind; and, is it not a fact that Thomas Dunphy has been released from prison, while Michael Whittaker is still detained there; and, if so, why has Mr. Whittaker been treated differently?

MR. W. E. FORSTER,

in reply, said, that the cases referred to by the hon. Member were under consideration.
