HC Deb 31 March 1882 vol 268 cc490-1
MR. BOURKE

inquired of the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether he can give any information to the House with respect to the report which appears in the papers of the murder of Mr. Herbert, J.P., of Killentenna, Castleisland, county Kerry; and whether any arrests have been made?

MR. W. E. FORSTER

I am sorry to say that the report is true that Mr. Herbert was murdered last night. He was fired at, and one of the shots struck him in the right lung. I have not heard whether any arrests have been made.
