HC Deb 06 July 1882 vol 271 c1626
MR. JOSEPH COWEN

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether the Government had received any information concerning the inquiry into the loss of life and property at Alexandria?

SIR CHARLES W. DILKE

No, Sir; I believe that the Commission has never reported even to the Egyptian Government. We withdrew our Delegate from it, and all the European Powers have also withdrawn their Representatives. There is no European Delegate on the Commission, and the Government heard informally that the Commission was broken up; but I do not know whether that is so.
