asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether the Government have information that the Russian Government are about to propose an increase of the duty on the importation of worsted yarns; and, if so, what is the proposed increase, and, when the new tariff will come into operation?

By the new Russian Tariff, which has been promulgated and comes into force on the 13th instant, it is proposed to raise the duty on woollen and worsted yarns undyed from 4 roubles 95 copecks to 7½ roubles per poud, and on the same dyed from 4 roubles 95 copecks to 9 roubles per poud.
