HC Deb 04 August 1882 vol 273 c751
MR. JUSTIN M'CARTHY

asked the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether he will take any steps this Session for the appointment of a Royal Commission to inquire into the condition of the Agricultural Labourers of Ireland?

MR. GLADSTONE

Sir, Her Majesty's Government, as at present advised, are not under the impression that there are any facts in respect to the agricultural labourers of Ireland which are not sufficiently in their possession already, and consequently we shall not issue a Royal Commission to inquire into the condition of the agricultural labourers.
