HC Deb 28 March 1881 vol 260 c5
MR. BELLINGHAM

asked the President of the Local Government Board, Whether his attention has been drawn to a statement in the papers that the Oldham guardians have refused to allow Catholic children to attend any other place of worship than the Church of England; whether such a statement be true; and, if so, whether such a course of proceeding is justifiable; and, whether he can take any steps in the matter; and, whether it is a fact that a large proportion of this body were Radicals and Liberals?

MR. DODSON

Sir, there has been no correspondence on the subject, and I can give no information in regard to it. I will, however, request the Inspector of the district to take an early opportunity of visiting the Union and ascertaining the facts of the case. I did not hear the last part of the Question.
