HC Deb 17 March 1881 vol 259 cc1244-5
SIR ALEXANDER GORDON

asked the Secretary of State for War, Upon what principle it is proposed, under the new territorial system, that regiments of Infantry shall take precedence among themselves for the post of honour on the right of a line, and at the head of a column?

MR. CHILDERS

Sir, in reply to my hon. and gallant Friend, I have to inform him that this point has not been lost sight of, and that a General Order is in preparation for issue at the proper time, under which it will be seen that the precedence of the new Territorial Regiments will follow the present precedents of their senior line battalions.
