HC Deb 23 June 1881 vol 262 c1100
SIR HENRY FLETCHER

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether, in framing the forthcoming Royal Warrant on Army Promotion and Retirement, he will cancel or revise that portion of the Royal Warrant of 1st May 1878, which renders "purchase" Captains now serving on full pay ineligible to receive the pension provided for by Articles 99 and 1,163 of that Warrant, because they happened to be on half-pay on the 1st November 1871?

MR. CHILDERS

No, Sir; I have carefully considered this case with my military advisers, and the alteration suggested is not deemed advisable. But in common with other captains brought back and compelled to retire in that rank they will receive a boon of an additional £50 to their pension.
