HC Deb 04 August 1881 vol 264 cc847-8
MR. ERRINGTON

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether the "decret" for the protection of the Indian labourers in the Island of La Réunion has yet been received by the Colonial Office; and, if so, whether he can make any statement as to the views of the Colonial Office with regard to the "decret," and as to the expe- diency of sanctioning further emigration from India to La Réunion?

SIR CHARLES W. DILKE

Sir, the "décret" has been communicated to Her Majesty's Government by that of France, and is now under the consideration of Commissioners appointed on the part of the Foreign and India Offices to discuss the question of coolie emigration to La Réunion with the French Government.
