HC Deb 07 April 1881 vol 260 cc873-4
MAJOR O'BEIRNE

asked the Secretary of State for War, If any steps will be taken this summer to withdraw from the Irish garrison the 2nd and 3rd Dragoon Guards, these Regiments being in excess of the usual Cavalry force quartered in Ireland?

MR. CHILDERS

Sir, I cannot say when it will be decided to reduce the force in Ireland; but the two regiments named by my hon. and gallant Friend will be among the first Cavalry regiments to be withdrawn.
