HC Deb 05 April 1881 vol 260 c754
SIR PATRICK O'BRIEN

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether, in the event of his entertaining favourably the proposition of the honourable and gallant Member for North Leicester to add two battalions to the brigade of Guards, he will grant to these new battalions an Irish designation?

MR. CHILDERS

In reply to my hon. Friend, I have to say that should two battalions be added to the Foot Guards his suggestion would be considered; but I have no present intention to increase the strength of the Guards.
