THE MARQUESS OF HARTINGTONI have not been able to ascertain that the Protestant Bishops and Clergy in India will have to take orders and directions from the Governor General on any matters connected with their spiritual functions. It is true that certain directions and orders have to he given by the Government in regard to matters of administration; but it may be some consolation to the hon. and gallant Member to know that they cannot be given by the Governor General alone, but will have to be given by the Governor General in Council.
