HC Deb 21 June 1880 vol 253 c437
MR. DAWSON

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If he is aware that the salaries of petty sessions clerks in Ireland vary ac--cording to the amount of fines imposed, thereby giving these officials a direct interest in the number of convictions, and, whether, if so, ho will bring in a measure to assimilate their mode of payment to that in force in England, where the justices' clerks are paid a fixed salary independent of the number or amount of fines?

MR. W. E. FORSTER

Sir, I have asked for the information, and I have not yet received it, and I must ask the hon. Member to postpone his Question.
