HC Deb 14 June 1880 vol 252 c1899
MR. T. FEY (for Mr. A. PEASE)

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, If he will lay upon the Table such Correspondence as may have taken place since January 1879, between Her Majesty's Government and that of Spain, in respect to the Treaty Eights of Great Britain, under which she is entitled to claim the complete emancipation of the enslaved Africans in Cuba?

SIR CHARLES W. DILKE

If the hon. Member will refer to the Papers presented last year he will find that they include the Correspondence on the subject of slavery in Cuba down to August last. Since that date Spain has passed a law providing for the abolition of slavery in Cuba. A copy of the law, together with some further Correspondence, will be laid on the Table very shortly.
