HC Deb 17 March 1879 vol 244 c1038
SIR CHARLES W. DILKE

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, When he proposes that the debate upon the Zulu War should be begun?

THE CHANCELLOR Of The EXCHEQUER

I must point out to the House that, in consequence of the advanced state of the financial year, it is imperatively necessary for us to have the Supplementary Estimates passed in order to get the Ways and Means Bill through before the end of the financial year. I am afraid, therefore, that I cannot fix an earlier day than Thursday week for the discussion of the hon. Gentleman's Notice.
