HC Deb 02 August 1879 vol 248 cc1942-3
MR. MACDONALD

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, If his attention has been called to a paragraph in the letter of the Paris Correspondent of the "Times," dated the 31st ult. which appeared in that paper of yesterday, which states "that the British Government has for a year been helping the Sultan of Morocco to prepare for a conflict with Spain;" and, whether there is any truth in such a statement?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

My attention has not been called to this cock-and-bull story, and I do not know to what it refers.
