§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERYes, Sir. The amount received in the year 1877–8 was £372,700, and in the year 1878–9, £422,000. That is just £50,000 in advance of the year before. It is, however, £36,000 less than the estimate that was made for 1878–9, the exemption of shepherds' dogs having greatly exceeded our expectations. There appears also to have been a diminution in the number of dogs kept.
