asked the Vice President of the Committee of Council on Education, Whether the Government have taken or intend to take any steps to carry out the recommendation of the Select Committee on Cattle Plague and Importation of Live Stock in their Report of last year, viz.:— That a searching inquiry should be made into the subject of the transit of cattle from Ireland to the ports of Great Britain; into the provisions made for their reception at the ports of departure and of arrival, and into their treatment during the voyage?

Sir, the inquiry has been made, and a Report upon it is now being prepared in the English and Irish Veterinary Departments, which will be laid upon the Table of the House as soon as possible.
