HC Deb 11 July 1878 vol 241 c1241
MR. FAWCETT

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether, in order to secure a full discussion for the Motion to be brought forward on Tuesday next by the Right honourable Member for Greenwich, in reference to the Indian Vernacular Press Act, he will not propose a morning sitting for that day?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

I am fully conscious of the importance of the Motion to which the hon. Gentleman draws attention; but I am sorry to say that, in the present state of the Session and of the Public Business, the Government could not afford to give up Tuesday's Morning Sitting.
