§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER,in reply, said, the Government were not prepared to make any proposal during the present short Session with reference to the subject alluded to in the 304 right hon. Gentleman's Question; but when the House re-assembled it would be one of the measures they would have to bring under its consideration. At present he could not make any positive announcement on the subject.
