MR. E. STANHOPE

Sir, my noble Friend, now the Vice President of the Council (Lord George Hamilton), was referring to some suggestions made to him by the right hon. Gentleman the Member for Pontefract (Mr. Childers), who was good enough to communicate with the India Office last year. Mainly in consequence of his suggestion, a Return—No. 256 of Session 1877—was issued, and another has been prepared which he has not yet seen. I may add that, as regards Debt, we have already given four Returns this year—two of them on the Motion of the hon. and gallant Member.
