HC Deb 05 April 1878 vol 239 c671
MR. O'REILLY

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland, On what principle, and by what rule, he determines the number of children to be paid for by the Treasury in a new industrial school, when the number depends on his certificate?

MR. J. LOWTHER

Sir, the number depends on the capacity of the school, and on the amount of the fund—placed by Parliament at the disposal of the Irish Executive for industrial schools—which may at the time be available.
