HC Deb 14 May 1877 vol 234 c860
SIR WILLIAM HARCOURT

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether there is any truth in the statement that there is at present an iron-clad, built in this country for the Government of Turkey, awaiting delivery to that Government; and, if so, whether Her Majesty's Government have taken any measures to prevent the breach of the Neutrality Laws in respect to such vessel?

MR. BOURKE

Sir, at the outbreak of the war Her Majesty's Government understood that a vessel of the description mentioned in the Question of the hon. Member was being built in the Victoria Docks, and Her Majesty's Government immediately took steps to prevent any infringement of the Foreign Enlistment Act.
