HC Deb 19 March 1877 vol 233 cc109-10
MR. DALRYMPLE (for Mr. STEWART HARDY)

asked the President of the Board of Trade, Whether the Board of Trade can take steps to induce the various Railway Companies to publish the alterations in their time-tables at least seven days before they take effect?

SIR CHARLES ADDERLEY

Sir, I had an opportunity this morning, in a conference with the Railway Association, to ask them if so desirable an arrangement as suggested could be made. They quite agreed that it was as desirable for the Companies as for the public; there were, however, considerable difficulties in making such an arrangement general, but they promised to take the suggestion into careful consideration, and with the hope of being able to carry it into effect.
