HC Deb 03 July 1877 vol 235 cc688-9
MR. WHALLEY

I beg to give Notice that on Thursday I shall move— That the practice of commencing business in this House at hours varying on each day, and continuing its sittings up to indefinite and unseasonable hours of the night and morning is at variance with experience as to the proper mode of transacting public business, and alike inconsistent with the convenience of Members and the discharge of the duties of this House, and I beg now, Sir, to move the Adjournment of the House for the purpose—

MR. SPEAKER

The hon. Member cannot interpose in the ordinary Business of the House. I was about to call upon the Clerk to read the Orders of the Day, which is the Business laid down by this House for itself. The Clerk will now proceed to read the Orders of the Day.

MR. WHALLEY

again endeavoured to interpose, but the Clerk called the first Order of the Day.
