HC Deb 15 February 1877 vol 232 cc376-7
MR. M'LAREN

asked the Lord Advocate, Whether Her Majesty's Government are about to take steps for abolishing the double sheriffships in Scotland, and for re-arranging the districts and salaries of the sheriff substitutes, so as to allow to those who may be appointed to the more important and laborious districts increased salaries out of the savings to be effected by the abolition of the double sheriffships?

THE LORD ADVOCATE

It is not the intention of Her Majesty's Government at present to deal with the question of double sheriffships in Scotland.
