HC Deb 06 August 1877 vol 236 cc470-1
MR. SHERIDAN

asked the Secretary, of State for the Home Department, Whether he is aware that the body of a miner named Thomas Stain was accidentally buried in a pit called New Homer Hill Pit, near Dudley, on the 25th January last, and that his body has not been sought for or recovered; and, whether he will direct that some attempt shall be made to recover the body?

MR. ASSHETON CROSS,

in reply, explained that any attempt to recover the body would be attended with considerable risk to life and property, and that neither he nor the Inspector of Mines had any power in the matter.
