LORD HENRY LENNOX, in reply, said, his attention was called to the matter under notice in consequence of 1351 the Question of the hon. Member. The lake in St. James's Park was thoroughly cleaned out in December last. Since then a considerable quantity of water had been pumped into it; but for a short time there had been a dry season, and that supply was lessened. Since then there had been a plentiful supply of water. He thought the hon. Gentleman would agree with him that it would be most unsafe at this time, when the hot weather was approaching, if he were to set to work to have the lake drained off again in order to remove the deposit.
