HC Deb 31 March 1876 vol 228 cc967-8
MR. GOLDNEY

asked the President of the Local Government Board, Whether he intends in his proposed Highway Bill to afford facilities to Highway Boards to acquire the power and control over county and hundred bridges within their respective districts?

MR. SCLATER-BOOTH

, in reply, said the Highways Bill would afford facilities for dealing with these structures in the manner suggested by the Question. He did not say the Bill would vary the incidence of the charge which now fell upon the county rates; but there were different categories of county bridges which might be dealt with in different ways.
