HC Deb 03 May 1875 vol 223 c1959
MR. GOLDSMID

asked the First Commissioner of Works, Whether he has yet made any arrangements for widening the lower portion of Parliament Street; and, if not, whether he proposes to do so before the next Session of Parliament?

LORD HENRY LENNOX

Sir, the question of providing additional accommodation for our Government Offices in Parliament Street, was, and I believe is, under the consideration of the Government; but I have not yet learnt what their decision is. However, I can assure the hon. Member that I shall feel the greatest satisfaction if I should receive instructions to make arrangements for sweeping away the unsightly block of buildings which now disfigures the lower end of Parliament Street.
