HC Deb 04 March 1875 vol 222 c1181
MR. O'SHAUGHNESSY

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland, If it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to introduce any measure on the subject of intermediate education in Ireland during the present Session?

SIR MICHAEL HICKS-BEACH,

in reply, said, that, looking at the great importance of the subject alluded to in the Question of the hon. Gentleman, he thought it necessary that before any proposal was submitted to Parliament in relation to it the matter should be thoroughly considered by the Government in all its bearings. The hon. Member would scarcely be surprised, therefore, to learn that the Government would not be prepared to introduce any measure in reference to the question during the present Session.
