HC Deb 27 April 1875 vol 223 c1687
MR. BATES

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty, What sum is paid annually to the shipping agents for engaging freight of Government stores; and, whether the work could not be as well done, and at less cost, by the Transport Department?

MR. HUNT,

in reply, said, the average annual amount paid to the shipping agents was a little over £1,800. With regard to the other question the matter was under consideration, but no final determination had been arrived at.
