HC Deb 23 April 1875 vol 223 c1510
MR. DUNBAR

asked the Under Secretary of State for India, Whether the report which appeared in the evening papers relative to the Guikwar of Baroda was correct?

LORD GEORGE HAMILTON

, in reply, said, that it was true the Guikwar was removed last night from Baroda. A Proclamation of the Viceroy of India had been issued that day deposing the Guikwar and his issue from the Sovereignty of the State of Baroda, but continuing the Native administration by permitting the widow of Khundee Roa, the late Guikwar, to adopt a member of the Guikwar's family.
