SERJEANT SHERLOCKasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland, Whether Her Majesty's Government propose to carry out the recommendations contained in the Report of the Irish Civil Service Inquiry Commissioners, signed in January last, with regard to the Dublin Metropolitan Police Magistrates; and, whether it is probable that any steps will be taken to give effect to that Report during the present Session of Parliament?
§ SIR MICHAEL HICKS-BEACHin reply, said, it was the intention of Her Majesty's Government to carry out the recommendations contained in the Report referred to by the hon. and learned Gentleman, but this could not be done without making some alteration in the existing arrangements for holding the Courts. This would necessitate the delay referred to in the Question of the hon. and learned Gentleman. He hoped, however, in the course of the present Session to bring in a Bill in order to effect the necessary alterations in the Law.
