MR. SPEAKER

informed the House, that he had received from Mr. Justice Mellor, one of the Judges on the Rota for the Trial of Election Petitions in England, a Report relating to the Election for the County of Durham (Southern Division).

That in the matter of the Election Petition complaining of the Election and Return of Joseph Whitwell Pease, esquire, and Frederick Edward Blackett Beaumont, esquire, who at the late General Election were returned to serve in Parliament for the Southern Division of the County of Durham, Mr. Justice Mellor reported that a summons for leave to withdraw the said Petition came on to he heard before him this day, and being satisfied that the withdrawal of such Petition was not the result of any corrupt arrangement, or in consideration of the withdrawal of any other Petition, he had made an order for the withdrawal of the same.
