HC Deb 15 June 1874 vol 219 c1588
MR. SULLIVAN

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland, Whether, in the event of any changes in the constitution of the Board of National Education in Ireland by the appointment of any additional paid Commissioners or otherwise being contemplated by the Government, he will afford Parliament an opportunity of learning what such changes are to be, and of considering and discussing them before they are effectuated?

SIR MICHAEL HICKS-BEACH

Sir, the hon. Member appears to me to suppose a case, and then to ask me what the Government will do in the event of his supposition being correct. As far as I am aware, Her Majesty's Government have not as yet had under their consideration the point alluded to in the Question of the hon. Member, and, therefore, I am unable to say what course they would take in the event of their deciding upon a matter which has not been considered by them.
