PELLasked the Secretary to the Treasury, Whether the Treasury arrangements are such as will relieve ratepayers in counties of half police pay and clothing for the whole or any portion of the half year ending September 29th, 1874, and borough ratepayers for the whole or any part of the half year ending August 31st, 1874; and, also when the Vote for the Supplementary Estimate for the Grant towards maintenance of Lunatics and the increased subvention on account of Police will be taken?
§ MR. W. H. SMITH, in reply, said, that the increased contributions of the Exchequer towards the cost of the pay and clothing of the Police in Counties and Boroughs would be made as from the 1st of April this year, and the Vote for the Supplementary Estimate would be taken in about three weeks or a month from the present time.
